Recent Progress in Fixed Point Theory and Applications (2015)

This special Issue originates from the 11th ICFPTA (11th International Conference on Fixed Point Theory and Applications 2015, (http://icfpta.org/) which was held in July 20-24, 2015 in Istanbul, Turkey, and was organized by the Department of Mathematics, Galatasaray University.

The special Issue is focused on latest achievements in fixed point theory and its applications. It reflects both state-of-the-art theoretical research and important recent advances in applications. This special issue will also focus on the iterative methods for finding the approximate solutions of various fixed point problems, equilibrium problems and optimization problems.

Best proximity results: optimization by approximate solutions

In this paper we utilize a generalized weakly contractive mapping to establish some best proximity point results which are global optimization results for finding the minimum distances between two sets. Amongs...

Common fixed point theorems under \((R,\mathcal {S})\)-contractivity conditions

Very recently, Roldán-López-de-Hierro and Shahzad introduced the notion of R-contractions as an extension of several notions given by different researchers (for instance, R-contractions generalize Meir-Keeler con...

On solving split equilibrium problems and fixed point problems of nonspreading multi-valued mappings in Hilbert spaces

In this paper, we introduce and study iterative schemes for solving split equilibrium problems and fixed point problems of nonspreading multi-valued mappings in Hilbert spaces and prove that the modified Mann ...

On the fixed point theory of soft metric spaces

The aim of this paper is to show that a soft metric induces a compatible metric on the collection of all soft points of the absolute soft set, when the set of parameters is a finite set. We then show that soft...

Some applications of Caristi’s fixed point theorem in metric spaces

In this work, partial answers to Reich, Mizoguchi and Takahashi’s and Amini-Harandi’s conjectures are presented via a light version of Caristi’s fixed point theorem. Moreover, we introduce the idea that many o...
