Migration infrastructures

Migration studies primarily research who migrates why and where and subsequent the processes after arrival. Less attention is paid to the processes between departure and arrival and in particular the infrastructures used during migratory journeys. Comparatively few studies seek to answer the question how people migrate. Existing research is also rather fragmented whilst an array of sometimes ill-defined concepts is applied to analyses. With this collection of articles we explore the multiple aspects of migration infrastructures, critically review and advance state-of the-art and aim to clarify the concept of migration infrastructures to enhance its analytical power.
