Rehabilitation and Assistive Robotics

ROBOMECH Journal is please to announce a new thematic series on "Rehabilitation and Assistive Robotics".

Rehabilitation and assistive robotics is one of research areas which have garnered immense interest in the past decade. That robotics explores a promising system and device to keep elder people or physically challenged people active in their daily livings, while longevity society of the world increases risk of disorder, such as frailty, sarcopenia, articular pain, paralysis and sensory obstacle. Thus, physical assistance using the robotic device are expected to support their independent life and relieve burden of a physical therapist and a care giver.  In addition, robots potentially enhances an effect of rehabilitation or advances a rehabilitation protocol using precise temporal and special control based on biological information in a space with multiple degrees of freedom. Some wearable and non-wearable robots have already been working in our society, but they are not enough for active and convenient long-life. Not only with Robot system, computational systems on biosignal processing in EMG (Electromyography), EEG (Electroencephalography), and other modalities are within the scope of this call as long as it contributes to Rehabilitation and Assistive Systems.

This special issue gathers research articles, development reports, news, and reviews, focusing on cutting-edge wearable and non-wearable robots and key technologies which contributes to support human activities such as mobility and manipulation in a daily living environment or medical /welfare institutions.

A list of recommended topics is given below:

Recommended Topics: Topics of interest, but are not limited to:

1) Assistive Robotics
2) Rehabilitation Robotics
3) Prosthetics
4) Human-robot interaction and collaboration
5) Safety aspects in rehabilitation and assistive robotics
6) Social robotics
7) Computational method in modeling and control with biosignal processing
