Current status of surgery-first approach

The surgery-first approach for orthognathic surgery is a recent trend in maxillofacial surgery. This approach, which is particularly prevalent in East Asia and Italy, has many pros and cons. The Korean Association of Maxillofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (KAMPRS) have launched this series of review articles to discuss the topic. The series will be composed of three parts and will be written by our editorial board members and collaborators who are specialists in this approach. These review articles will expand the knowledge of the surgery-first approach and will be particularly helpful for both surgeons and orthodontists.
