The aim of this collection is to present research outcomes related to the scientific debate on cultural, social, economic, and archaeological values associated with Architectural Heritage. We aim to highlight the application of values-related studies to Architectural Heritage through the following attributes, (i) novel heritage concepts, (ii) visual analysis, (iii) socio-economic awareness, (iv) digitalisation of cultural heritage, (v) archaeometry, (vi) landscape study and analysis, and (vii) opportunities for dissemination and interaction within narrative environments.
The scope of this collection defines a dynamic framework for in-depth studies and reflections on Cultural Heritage, where the assessment of Values related to Architecture, influenced by both history and communities, contributes to fixing a changing vision between “memory” and “actuality” of Heritage through contemporary challenges. This theme can relate to historical change and resilience responses to Built Heritage, as well as the claim of tangible and intangible heritage to revised practices.
It is reflected in a social impact, global or local, which, through the variation of the assigned Values, entails a different visualisation and protection of Architectural Heritage, conditioning its cultural legacy to contemporary generations and stakeholder processes.
In this way, the value and significance of Architectural Heritage can be consciously directed towards its understanding, sharing and protection by the civil society. Special attention is related to architectural sites, contexts and related heritage apparatuses interested in the alteration of functions, uses, socio-cultural conditions, changing of governance projections and unpredictable scenarios of preservation.
The collection originates from an International Lectures cycle dedicated to the topic, developed under the EU-funded project “MOEBHIOS” Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action (Project number 101064433).
