Enhancing Safety in Intelligent Systems

Enhancing Safety in Intelligent Systems

We invite you to contribute to a Special Issue for the journal ROBOMECH, entitled “Enhancing Safety in Intelligent Systems”, which aims to present the latest research and insights in the field of autonomous systems, with a focus on design and safety critical issues.

As intelligent systems become increasingly prevalent in a wide range of real-world settings, ranging from self-driving cars and drones to medical devices and smart homes, the question arises of how can we ensure safety and increase trust in these systems? While in recent years methods relying on AI and advanced control have been proposed to deal with this issue, there still exist numerous challenges, particularly related to the design and verification of safety-critical autonomous and intelligent systems, fault detection and diagnosis, risk assessment and mitigation, human factors, and decision-making.

This special issue aims to bring together contributions from experts in the field who are working on providing safety enhancement to intelligent systems. This special issue also seeks to offer insights into the future challenges and opportunities in this important area of research. Topics include but are not limited to:

Recommended Topics:

• Safety critical control and planning

• Safety assurance for shared autonomy

• Safety-critical intelligent systems in healthcare, transportation, and logistics

• Safety critical control and guidance for teleoperated systems

• Formal methods for verification and validation of safety-critical autonomous and intelligent systems

• Fault detection and diagnosis in autonomous and intelligent systems

• Human factors and decision-making support in safety-critical intelligent systems

• Testing and validation strategies for safety-critical intelligent systems

• Verification of deep learning models for safety-critical intelligent systems

• Integration of safety-critical intelligent systems with existing infrastructure
