The Egyptian Rheumatology and Rehabilitation journal is delighted to present to you the Egyptian Guidelines for Rheumatic Diseases. This series includes seven articles covering the most challenging rheumatic diseases.
Each of these guideline articles aimed to enhance patients’ management in a certain clinical setting according to the recent updates and tailored to use the facilities of the recently launched healthcare system to be optimized to achieve the treat to target approach for the proposed clinical scenarios.
All of them have followed the Clinical, Evidence-based, Guidelines (CEG) initiative protocol and was launched by the Egyptian Academy of Rheumatology and approved the local ethical committee to develop an up-to-date consensus, evidence-based, clinical practice guidelines for treatment of rheumatic diseases. These guidelines are put meticulously by an across the country expert clinicians. The high levels of consensus achieved, as well as the agreement with the most recently published treatment recommendations; meanwhile, meeting the Egyptian standards for the available financial resources would make this work a trustable valuable source for patient care in Egypt. Also, the Patient/ Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcomes and Time (PICOT) approach was implemented to identify the key clinical questions, and statements contained within the guidelines.
