Research on STEM practices in education: International perspectives

Recent curriculum policies from around the world have called for the teaching and learning of STEM practices in educational settings. For example, the Next Generation Science Standards in the USA advocate the inclusion of science and engineering practices in STEM education. This thematic series brings together the work of scholars from around the world to investigate the trends in STEM education research in terms of coverage of STEM practices and to illustrate how STEM practices can be incorporated in educational settings. The collection includes a set of articles illustrating various research and development efforts from different parts of the world in order to make STEM practices a component of STEM instruction. The articles focus on science, mathematics, engineering and technology domains, and include focus on a range of topics such as argumentation, digital games, curriculum policy and reflective practice of teacher educators.
