About the Collection

Sustainable Energy Research is calling for submissions to our Collection on Advances in Green Energy Solutions for Harnessing Wastewater Management Practices. The objective of this collection is to gather the recent advances in cutting-edge research encompassing the critical relationship between sustainable wastewater management and green energy solutions in adopting eco-friendly practices.

Cutting-edge technologies offer more efficient strategies for energy savings and recovery from wastewater treatment and reuse, aiming resource utilization and optimization. Besides exploiting the chemical and thermal energy content of wastewater, there are also opportunities to close the wastewater cycle by recovering energy from process residuals. In this framework, significant additional energy recovery can be achieved, where at the same time contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions is maintained. Topics of interest for this collection include green energy and energy recovery from industrial wastewater processes, capturing the potential energy, resources, and environmental benefits associated with wastewater treatment and reuse. Additionally, topics highlighting the circular economy concept, emphasizing how wastewater can be a valuable resource as well as sustainable and green approaches in energy capturing processes and optimization practices would also be well-received. Specific examples may include the following:

1. Cutting-edge technologies for harnessing energy from wastewater and optimizing resource utilization.

2. Optimizing energy capture, resources, and environmental benefits associated with wastewater treatment and reuse

3. Sustainable and green approaches in creating a more sustainable and resilient energy system

4. Systems enhancing energy self-sufficiency for industrial wastewater treatment plants

5. Circular economy in wastewater, energy, and resource recovery

6. Benefits of green energy recovery in lowering greenhouse gas emissions

7. Mitigation of climate change impacts on water resources

Green energy management encompasses a holistic approach to energy conservation, renewable integration, and responsible resource utilization. Articles focusing on the practice of efficiently and sustainably managing energy resources while prioritizing environmentally friendly and renewable energy sources are highly welcomed.
